How Real Estate Investors Win the Inflation Triple Crown
One of the strengths of investing in commercial real estate is that it acts as a hedge against inflation. This is particularly salient now that inflation, based on the Consumer Price Index is at a 40 year high. Fed Pivot Even More Hawkish than Expected
The Fed delivered an even more hawkish shift at the December meeting than anticipated, with the pace of tapering doubled and officials now forecasting three rate hikes next year. Reflecting that new tone, Capital Economics now expects the Fed to raise rates three times in 2022 (up from two), followed by four rate hikes in 2023, a slightly faster pace of tightening than markets currently anticipate. https://pcre.xyz/a2g.

The Commercial Property Crisis That Wasn’t
The Covid-19 crisis led to a flurry of fund announcements where investors planned to use the distressed investment playbook that worked so well after the Global Financial Crisis (GFC). These fund managers raised money on a mistaken belief that this downturn would be the same as the last.
